The Akron Fire Department was established in 1893 and serves residents in northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota including the cities of Akron, Iowa, Westfield, Iowa and Spink, South Dakota. The department responds to calls for service in the largest fire district in the state of Iowa and covers nearly 365 square miles.<\/p>
