Sharon Frerichs has called Akron home all her life. She graduated from Akron High School and Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. In 1969 she began her teaching career in Akron, retiring in 2007. Since that time she is the manager of Ridgewood Apartments and the parish secretary of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is married to Robert D., and they have three children: Nicole Johnson, Shawn, and Hollie St. Pierre. They have been blessed with seven grandchildren, all who live in Akron, IA.
Sharon was appointed to the council in 2010. Before that she served on the Akron Public Library board for well over 25 years. She serves on the election committee as the Akron chairperson. As a councilor she has served on several committees, but the most recent is the local hazard mitigation committee.
She has enjoyed living and serving our community because of its great style of living, safety, amenities, and progress. It is a great place to call home!
